P2 Fairy Forest Visit

26th Sep 2025

‘If you go down to the woods today, you’re in for a big surprise!’🧚‍β™‚οΈπŸ§šπŸ§š‍♀️

P2 arrived in school this morning, super excited! On the playground they were chatting happily about what they might see on their trip to Erica’s Fairy Forest in Cootehill. They boarded their fun bus to be greeted by their driver and classmates Grandad, Mr McWillams. He drove us carefully and tooted the bus horn when were singing along to our favourite class song ‘The Wheels on the Bus’
On arriving at the car park, Mrs McConkey brought us into an elf’s hut to chat to us and tell us what to look out for on our visit. On our onward journey into the forest, Mrs McConkey who doesn’t like to miss a teaching opportunity explained to us what an apostrophe was, and showed us on the lovely forest signs. She also included a numeracy lesson, we counted the amount of words on signs and the amount of letters.
We enjoyed our delicious school snack in the ‘fairy band stand’ and then we went deeper into the forest. We greeted other forest walkers with a polite ‘Good morning’ and then we spotted fairy lights, an Ogre's cabin and lots and lots of fairy houses and sparkly paths. Just magical πŸ€— we each took a turn on an enchanted rocking horse and then discovered the Treasure Fairy had left us a personalised letter and lots and lots of treasure to be given out when the boys and girls have done their wonderful work and shown wonderful behaviour.
All too soon it was time to board the fun bus back to school. We have had the best day πŸ€—
Thank you Mrs McConkey and Mrs Ebbitt for another fantastic class trip πŸ€— and to Mr McWilliams for getting us there and back safely.
