P4 enjoyed a wonderful trip to Florencecourt. During the trip we found out about what harvest would have been like in the past. To start our day we walked to the walled garden. Our guide Jo told us about some of the plants growing in the garden. We saw lots of volunteers hard at work. Then we went to the greenhouse where we selected some food to bring back to the kitchen. The kitchen is in the basement of Florencecourt house. We discussed how kitchens now are very different. Our guide then showed us some of the jobs that would have needed to have been done during harvest time. We had to scrub potatoes, sort out vegetables, wrap apples up to keep them fresh and make pastry for apple pies. To finish our day we made harvest crowns.
