P7 loved their pond dipping expedition at the Birdie Walk. The class was armed with all kinds of equipment, ranging from fishing nets to wheelbarrows. When they arrived at their destination they were put into groups of three. Then the scientists had to fill their tub with pond water and discover and identify the creatures that they found. For a second challenge, each group of scientists were tasked to try and scoop up some more pond life with a small net. Every group found some amazing invertebrates such as: diving beetles, dragonfly nymphs/larvae, water lice, water spiders, hair and blood worms and lots of water fleas. They then tidied up and took their findings back to school in order that Mr Wilson could show them to other classes.
