P6 Whatever the Weather workshop 15.04.21

On 15th April, P6 enjoyed a fabulous online workshop organised by National Museums NI. Art Education Officer Colleen Watters talked about a few paintings created by Irish artists depicting landscapes in different seasons and different weather. She also explained the techniques used in creating those paintings and how P6 could make similar creations. The workshop had kindly provided the class with materials; woody pencils, cut card and candle stumps. It also sent over two copies of paintings by Sir John Lavery. Following on from the online session, P6 got to make their own seascapes. A simple technique using a straight line for the horizon, applying the candle stumps and woodies mixed with just a little bit of water ensured that P6 managed to create some wonderful paintings.
